Citizens fume with anger as paedophile who abused Vizag and Odisha orphans gets bail

Paul Henry Dean, a.k.a Allan Rose, an Australian national, has been issued a bail after he was sentenced to three years in jail for sexually abusing orphans in Vizag and Odisha. After a 17-year-long trail, Paul was sentenced to jail under Sections 377 (Unnatural acts), 292 (2) (A) of the IPC and Section 12 of the Passport Act, 1967, and Section 14 of the Foreigners Act, and was also slammed with a fine of Rs 32,000 by the Vizag Railway Court. The 75-year-old, an alleged paedophile, appealed to Andhra Pradesh High Court challenging the order passed by the Vizag Railway Court.

The bail issued to the Australian has not gone down well with people who are fuming with anger over setting a paedophile free. A campaign #MakePredatorPaulPay has been launched by The News Minute on Twitter to seek justice. Users even tagged Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj, as an effort to take their agitation to her notice.

“And after being convicted after SEVENTEEN years, this man will not spend even one night in jail. Why has an Australian sexual offender been allowed to roam free in India, prey on our children, and face no punishment for his actions? How is this justice?! #MakePredatorPaulPay,” tweeted a user.

Horrific. How can this criminal get away without being punished? One of his rape victims committed suicide another one had to move away from his village. #MakePredatorPaulPay,” tweeted another user.

It has been learned that the Convict posed himself as a priest and doctor and committed a series of sexual offenses against orphans who fell prey to him. After being arrested in 2001 in Vizag, the man fled to Odisha on a bail and committed similar crimes against the orphans there.
