Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday assured the agitating MPs from Andhra Pradesh and said that the centre was working sympathetically on the issues related to Andhra Pradesh and a decision over the special package will soon be finalised in the coming few days.
The statement was made amidst a high drama that took place in the lower house of the parliament. As the finance minister stood up to speak, angry TDP MPs turned towards him and urged to consider their demands. Arun Jaitley asked the members to allow him to speak as the speaker warned the members for showing their back to the chair.
Speaking in the Loksabha, Jaitley said, “We will try and do it extremely early. We are very sympathetic to the people of Andhra Pradesh and would look into each one of these issues expeditiously.”
However, the Finance Minister’s statements have failed to pacify the protesting leaders from the state. Reportedly, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu too isn’t pleased with the centre’s behaviour towards Andhra Pradesh.
As per the sources of TOI, Naidu, who is in Dubai, held an emergency teleconference with the MPs and asked them to continue the protests in the parliament.
Also, it has been learned that the centre too isn’t happy with TDP’s stance against the government. “Each time you concede their demand, they come up with new ones. There is a limit to how much you can do for one state when you are having to deal with expectations from others too,” TOI’s sources were quoted as saying.
