Vizag Plays Host To DWCRA Bazaar

Vizag is playing host to the third edition of Sale of Articles of Rural Artisan Societies (SARAS)/DWCRA Bazaar. Three hundred stalls are set up at the Andhra University Engineering Grounds for women entrepreneurs and rural artisans from 20 states to be allowed to display and sell their products. A lot of the artisans taking part are from our state.

More than 300 stalls of wares are being displayed at the exhibition. The exhibition that is being organised jointly by the state and central governments, supported by MEPMA, NABARD and National Jute Board of India, will be active from December 23 – January 3. Last year’s DWCRA Bazaar did a business of Rs 3 crore and received an overwhelming response. This year, atleast Rs 10 crore of business is expected.

HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao appreciated the arrangements made for digital transactions at these stalls and said people can opt for cashless transactions here. While only eight stalls have been equipped with swipe machines, the rest manage with mobile ATMs, mobile wallets and ATM counters. Hand-woven saris, organic food, millet products, leather articles, handmade home decor and accessories and jute bags can be expected at the bazaar.

The duration of the bazaar has been increased to 12 days from the 10 last year to ensure profitable sales for the artisans. MP K Haribabu and District Collector Pravin Kumar were part of the inaugural ceremony.
