Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu visited Araku yesterday. He took part in the celebrations there on ‘World Adivasi day’. He addressed a public meeting and mentioned the state government’s stress on tribal welfare. The ITDPs are to be strengthened across the state. A fund of Rs.5000 crores has been set aside for tribal development and more for ecotourism in the area.
Ecotourism plans: In reference to Araku especially, plans are being made to develop a ecotourism hub there. A ecotourism circuit is being planned under PPP model. Fund allocation for this is to the tune of 110 crores. Under this program, venture tourism, waterfalls and healthcare would get a boost. Other plans in the context involve construction of 16.52 km road and Lambasingi. Lambasingi will witness development of a forest resort.
Araku coffee: CM highlighted the world class brand name that Araku coffee has garnered. The area under coffee plantation would be increased. Plans are also to promote the brand name on an international forum.
Other initiatives for tribal welfare:
The current tourist inflow of tourism to the Araku Valley is good but there is a wide scope for more. Picturesque and beautiful, promoting tourism without causing natural imbalance is key here. A sustainable ecotourism plan, keeping tribal welfare and development in mind is good news.
