APSRTC Plans To Commercialise 25 Vacant Plots

A plan to commercialise and convert nearly 25 vacant plots in various bus stations and depots has been made by the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC).

The plots which will be commercialised range from 8,000 square feet to 12,000 square feet. These plots will be given to private payers in order to set up commercial establishments including shops and theaters. They will build and operate first and then transfer the projects to APSRTC.

The corporation, as of now, is planning to give the sites on lease for a minimum of 15 years. M Sudeesh Kumar, the regional manager of Visakhapatnam APSRTC reportedly stated that they have found three vacant plots in the city which can be commercialised. They are at Madugula, Yelamanchili and Chintapalli. He also said that the negotiations are being carried forward by the private players who are interested in the project. He added that they have no plans to give out the sites within the city limits, as of now.

However, 25 players have already shown interest to take this endeavor which will be going for the tender process in June. The corporation has also decided that they will allow the firms coming forward to set up establishments to name the bus stations after themselves. The manager said that if for example, a company has showed interest on the plot in Dwarakangar bus station, it can be after the firm’s name. To do this, the firm will have to pay some rent to the corporation. He also said that the negotiations which have begun are with a few giant companies in the city.
