AP Govt. focuses all attention on Vizag summit

Keen on attracting investments on a large scale, the Andhra Pradesh government has focused all its attention on the CII Partnership Summit scheduled to take place in Visakhapatnam on 14 and 15 November.

To project the State as an ideal destination to invest, the government has planned a big campaign to draw the attention of industrialists and entrepreneurs.

With the recent MoU it signed with the IT giant Google for the establishment of a massive one gigawatt (GW) data centre, said to be the largest in Asia, the Andhra Pradesh government has already in action to woo investors.

As a part of the promotion drive, State HRD and IT Minister Nara Lokesh is on a six-day trip to Australia to highlight the advantages of investing in Andhra Pradesh. He takes part in roadshows in Australia to invite global participation in the CII Partnership Summit, Vizag.

He sought the cooperation of the Telugu diaspora in Australia in rebuilding Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing a gathering at a meeting organised by the AP Non-Resident Telugu Society in Sydney, Lokesh observed that the Andhra Pradesh government attracted investments to the tune of Rs. 10 lakh crore in the last 16 months. Began on 19 October, his Australia tour will conclude on 24 October.

Later, the IT Minister will tour the USA for a week starting from 25 October. He will attend a key meeting in Las Vegas on 29 October. The meeting will have over 3,000 entrepreneurs in attendance from the IT sector.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will be visiting a couple of places in the UAE from 22 to 24 October to invite industrialists to the Vizag partnership summit. He will also tour the UK in the first week of November to hold a series of meetings with entrepreneurs.

The Chief Minister, who concentrates more on the Vizag meet, has suggested to the officials at a review meet to organise the summit on the lines of the World Economic Forum conclave in Davos.
