Youngsters in Andhra Pradesh detained by police for turning “ghosts”

In a rather bizarre news in Andhra Pradesh, it has been reported that a couple of youngsters in Vijayawada have been detained by police for dressing up as ghosts in apparently, an attempt to pull off a prank on their friend.

Reportedly, the youngsters planned a surprise on their friend’s birthday and thought the video would go viral on social media. However, they were caught by a patrolling team for their allegedly “suspicious” activities on Eluru road. The bunch of youngsters included two boys who dressed up completely in a ghost attire with white clothes and weird wigs.

“All the boys are minors, they have completed Class 10 and 12. Our patrolling team found them on the road at midnight and two of them were wearing wigs. Given the ongoing confusion over fake news, we detained them just to prevent any misunderstanding,” Machavaram Inspector Sahera told The News Minute

.

It has also been learned that the youngsters were expecting to make money if their video got a thumping response on social media. They are currently being counselled at the police station.

While it is understandable to plan activities to surprise our loved ones on special occasions, it is important to keep in mind that certain pranks might go a bit too far, and end up hurting people. Also, given the current scenario in Andhra Pradesh and elsewhere where rampant rumours are setting a panic among the people, it advisable not to indulge in such uncanny prank ideas.
