Andhra Pradesh, A Power Surplus State

Recently Shri. Ajay Jain, IAS , Secretary – Department of Energy and Infrastructure, said that Andhra Pradesh has surplus power compared to the times before the bifurcation. He also talked about the development plans for the State, adding that Logistics parks are being developed for Visakhapatnam Port.

Talking about the new underground power supply project in Visakhapatnam, he said that the government has already sanctioned an amount of Rs. 750 crore and tenders would be called after 15th of August.

Adding to that he said that Andhra Pradesh used to face a shortage of 22.5 millions of electricity per day before the bifurcation of the state but now has surplus power. The government is focusing on the conservation of energy resources by encouraging the use of efficient devices and also by installing wind and solar power generating parks.

APEPDCL in Visakhapatnam has been ranked number one in reduction of transmission and distribution loses.
