“I was on patrolling duty when I saw an SUV with six people consuming alcohol. I approached them and told them that this was a reserve forest area and they could not drink there. They immediately began threatening and intimidating me before assaulting me.” the police officer told

the reporters.

It has been learned that the six individuals were on their way to Srisailam when the took a halt near the forest area and began boozing. The police officer, Jyothi Swaroop, was patrolling on duty, asked them to stop drinking as it is banned in the forest area.

The injured police officer, who later filed a complaint, was treated at a local hospital. While five of the accused have been detained by the police, one of them is on the run.
