When in Visakhapatnam yesterday, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu called out for information technologists to innovate and help the government increase digital literacy in the state. The state government has been making optimal use of technology to make Andhra Pradesh a digitally literate state.
The CM assured that the state government will welcome new ideas, innovation and devices while addressing a crowd at the ETCIO Digital Transformation Summit where digital disruption and innovation were discussed, in attendance of IT professionals and CEOs of various companies. He further stated that he wants to make the state digitally literate by using technology. At present, all utilitarian systems like water, power consumption, street lighting, distribution of pensions and other benefits for the needy are being monitored by the state with the help of technology through the CORE Dashboard.
He stressed that the state has no shortage of natural resources like water and mineral wealth, human resources, and road, rail and air connectivity to establish the units. The CM predicts that Visakhapatnam will transform into an educational and industrial hub in the future due to the resources available.
He brought up the fact that the state government has decided to provide internet connectivity to all households in the state at the rate of Rs 149 per month for 15 MBPS speed. Existing electricity poles are being used for providing the fibre connection with a cost of Rs 332 crore instead of going underground and spending Rs 5000 crore.
On the occasion, a not-for-profit organisation called Information Technology Association of Andhra Pradesh (ITAAP) was launched with the objective to foster growth and sustainable development of IT, IT enabled services and Electronics by working closely with the government.
