Taking an example from the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi who rode a single engine seaplane from Sabarmati to Dharoi Dam, Chandrababu Naidu takes off too. He travelled aboard a seaplane on the beautiful waters of the Krishna River. The starting point was the Punnami Ghat, Vijayawada. The pioneer of the seaplane idea in India is SpiceJet. Shri Chandrababu Naidu is exploring the SpiceJet services to partner with Andhra Pradesh to make it a workable plan here.
Others present on the occasion were Civil Aviation Minister, Ashok Gajapati Raju, State Finance Minister Yanamala Rama Krishnudu, Tourism Minister Bhuma Akhila Priya, Water Resources Minister Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao.
Congratulating them, AP CM, has highlighted the possibility of putting the seaplanes to good use on the 1000 km coastline of the state. The cost effectiveness, low maintenance and limited runway requirements of a seaplane are very favourable. The amphibious craft would be a major boost to the future of tourism in the state.
SpiceJet is doing the trials for the new concept in association with Japan’s Setouchi Holdings and Krishna River, Vijayawada is the second phase of trials.
