Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP) allocated lands to nine thematic cities on Saturday, three days post the submission of concept designs of Amaravati by London based Foster+Partners. Allotment has been done to lend the clarity to sector-wise infrastructure to be made in the capital city.
After the study of the models in China, Europe, Eurasia, Middle East and South America, by the A.P. Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) and Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department, the GoAP proposed to construct Government, Finance, Knowledge, Justice, Health, Sports, Tourism, Media and Electronic cities in Amaravati.
The Government City will have the Legislative Assembly and council, secretariat buildings and head offices of several other government departments. Offices related to hospitality sector, star hotels and other luxuries will be in the Tourism city as a tourist attraction. The university campus and educational institutes will be seen in the Knowledge city. The river front development will be a part of this city. Sports city will have sports stadia with other needed facilities. ‘Central Business District’ will be the Finance city where the offices of finance department of GoAP will be located. AP High Court will be situated in the Justice city in addition to other courts. One of the prominent sectors to build this city will be the residential quarters of the Chief Justice of A.P.
The residential buildings in Amaravati will cover 833 acres. Land for social requirements and entertainment will be 567 acres and for commercial establishments it will be 237 acres in the city.
