Ajinkya Rahane’s father arrested in a road accident case

Indian Test team’s vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane’s father, Madhukar Baburao Rahane, has been arrested in a road accident case. It has been reported that Madhukar’s car hit a 67-year-old woman near Kolhapur in Maharashtra. The woman, identified as Ashatai Kamble, succumbed in the hospital while battling the injuries. It is, however, unclear as to who was driving the vehicle.

Reportedly, Rahane’s father was travelling along with his family in a Hyundai i20 on National Highway No.4 where the car had hit the woman. After the mishap, people immediately gathered at the locale and transferred Kamble to a nearby hospital. However, the woman could not sustain the injuries and passed away eventually.

It has been reported that the Kolhapur Police has reportedly registered a case under the IPC Act 304A, 337, 338, 279 and 184.

Ajinkya Rahane is currently travelling with the Indian team for the ongoing ODI series against Sri Lanka. The news comes as a shocker to the right-handed batsman, who landed in Visakhapatnam on Thursday.

The third ODI between India and Sri Lanka will be played here in Vizag on Sunday.
