A shocking incident of child abuse that has come to light in Hyderabad has revealed some shocking facts. A 4-year-old girl was allegedly made to sit on a hot pan by her own mother and stepfather, who later tried to abandon her at the police station.
As per a report in New Indian Express, the woman and her husband, who were identified as Lalitha M and Y Prakash respectively, wanted to get rid of the child.
Speaking to the reporters, SR Nagar police station inspector Md Waheeduddin said, “The girl is from Lalitha’s first marriage. She seems to have left or divorced her first husband and married Prakash. The girl was found with burn injuries on her body after her mother allegedly made her sit on a frying pan. The burn injuries seem to be from around 4-5 days ago.”
The incident came to light when the parents took the child to a child welfare centre and claimed that they had found the girl abandoned by the roadside. However, during verification, it was revealed that the child was being tortured by the couple and they wanted to get rid of her.
As a matter of fact, the couple’s neighbours also informed that they had heard the child scream on several occasions and had even warned Lalitha against torturing the kid.
A case has been registered against the couple relevant provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act and under IPC section 324 (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means). The police have arrested the couple and have stated that no conclusion can be drawn until the interrogation process gets over with.
The girl is now been taken care at Sishu Vihar centre in Hyderabad.
