The City of Destiny wears a different colour on Saturdays. People embrace the weekend completely and step out of their houses to explore all that the city has to offer. For many people, Saturdays are either a day off or a half-day, thereby giving them ample time. From trying out delicious street food to visiting popular tourist spots, there’s certainly a lot of things to do in Vizag.
Here are some of the things that citizens of Vizag do on a Saturday:
The famed RK Beach in the city is crowded on any other day as it is. But on Saturday evenings, this beach is jam-packed and it’s close to impossible for people to find any parking spot. Most people travelling on that route simply avoid the beach road in order to not run into traffic jams.
There’s not a single standout reason why people visit RK Beach on the weekends. While some hit the various street food stalls on the Beach Road, others go to visit the TU 142 Aircraft Museum, and the INS Kursura Submarine Museum, with their families. There are plenty of those as well who simply enjoy taking a walk along the beach, watching the sun set in Vizag.
Another popular Saturday activity in Vizag is shopping. With plenty of shopping malls and markets to hit, people are spoilt for choices and enjoy spending time with their families and buying various things. Shopping malls, and shopping areas such as Jagadamba Junction, are some of the places that witness heavy crowds on Saturdays.
An entertaining way to spend your Saturdays is to visit a movie theatre. Be it a newly-released Telugu movie, or a much-hyped English movie, people of Vizag never hesitate in checking them out in theatres. And now that the Andhra Pradesh State Government has lifted the Covid-19 related restrictions at theatres, some of the theatres are running housefull. If you’re looking for last-minute tickets, to afternoon or evening shows at CMR Central Inox or Varun Beach Inox, good luck booking them.
The flavour of Vizag is not restricted to a single cuisine and the people of the city love trying out new restaurants and cafes in order to capture this flavour. Particularly on the weekends, it’s difficult to get a table in a popular restaurant or a pub. Due to this, some people who have made last-minute dinner plans have to venture outside the city in hopes of grabbing a delicious meal with their friends and families.
