15-year-old boy found dead in a well at Parawada, Visakhapatnam

A 15-year-old boy was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Parawada, Visakhapatnam on Thursday evening. The city police found the dead body floating in a well. The boy, who is a class X student in the city, was reportedly missing since Sunday. 

The dead body has been identified as R Vinod Kumar from Railway New Colony in Visakhapatnam. He was pursuing his education at Zila Parishad High School, Parawada while staying at Government BC Welfare Boys Hostel in the area. 

Vinod had apparently left the hostel on 7 November, 2021. The hostel authorities had been of the belief that he had gone home to celebrate Nagula Chavithi with his family. It was only on Wednesday that they found out that Vinod had never come home from the hostel. After that, a missing complaint was lodged at the Parawada Police Station. 

On Thursday evening, the police officials visited a well near Cinema Junction in Visakhapatnam, on receiving information from the Village Revenue Officer (VRO) about an unidentified dead body of a boy which had partially decomposed. The police, with the help of Vinod’s parents, were able to identify the dead body. Further enquiry revealed that Vinod and his friends used to frequently visit that well to play. 

A case of suspicious death has been registered and investigation is ongoing while the dead body has been sent for postmortem.
