The Tourism Department of Andhra Pradesh has made terms with Kakinada Port on introducing a ten seater tourism speed boat in addition to the existing 4 speed and scooter boats at Rushikonda in Visakhapatnam.
The ten-seater speed boat has been bought for Rs 8.50 lakhs from Chennai. Since the shore at Rushikonda does not hold a jatti facility like the one at the fishing harbour, the officials are in discussions about shifting the boat to the harbour.
As the sea area around the harbour comes under Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT), there is a need for taking required permissions for the commencing of the boat ride. Even Kakinada Port has to grant permissions for commencing tourism boat rides in the coast.
The Deputy Manager of Speed boat Tourism, P Venkateswara Rao, said, ” We have been granted permissions from the Kakinada Port and forwarded them to VPT officials.”
“The ten-seater speed boat ride will kick start in a week at the harbour”, the deputy manager said.
