In what is expected to be a major boost to tourism here, Visakhapatnam Airport now gets e Visa facility. A good move for tourism and visibility of the city.

Visakhapatnam Airport is moving forward in leaps and bounds to draw Visakhapatnam into the limelight and the latest move to secure the e Visa facility is a big one. Not an easy one, Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department had to make enduring efforts in pursuing Union Home Ministry for the same. Under the e Visa scheme, one can apply to travel to India and will receive an email authorizing him for the same. The tourist only needs to take a printout of this authorization letter to go ahead with plans. Upon arrival all he has to do is produce this letter in front of the immigration authorities to be allowed entry into the country. That’s all. Easy as it sounds.

Visakapatnam Airport will now be a spot where foreign tourists can come for a holiday or more without any hassles. The city is at par with metros who have the facility since before. e Visa has been divided into 3 categories which are – e Business Visa, e Tourist Visa and e Medical Visa.

Highlights

#1 Business and medical visas can be granted within 48 hours on emergency basis.

#2 Tourism from overseas is facilitated by visitors getting a stay upto 2 months with double entry benefit.

#3 For medical reasons, triple entry is also possible.

#4 161 countries have been covered in the scheme and the Tourism Minister has expressed optimism for increasing foreign tourist foot falls here.
