14 Road projects worth Rs 4,500 crore sanctioned in Andhra Pradesh

The government told that in the current fiscal, it has sanctioned for Andhra Pradesh 14 road projects costing Rs 4,500 crore. Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways and Shipping said, “During the current financial year, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has sanctioned 14 major projects costing Rs 4,500 crore on National Highways under corridor approach and NHDP 4 scheme for Andhra Pradesh. The long pending demand for Vizianagaram bypass has been fulfilled. The work of four-laning of the bypass with concrete road for Rs 430 crore has been sanctioned”.

He added, “Visakhapatnam area grid separator at convent junction on Visakhapatnam old road is being developed at a cost of Rs 60 crore. Out of this, Rs 30 crore will be funded under the Sagarmala programme, Rs 15 crore by NHAI and another Rs 15 crore by Vishakhapatnam Port Trust”.

One of the road projects, the minister told, is six-laning which joins Anakapalli to Andapuram access controlled highways as part of NH16 and will provide connectivity of 12 km to Visakhapatnam port and will also have service road on both sides. This is supposed to be a dedicated corridor to Visakhapatnam Ranasthalam port and Rs 1,000 crore will be invested to make the 47 km of NH 16, a six-laned road.

The construction for the these road projects will start next month as the bids are already done. For the outer ring road of 186 km around Amaravathi, Rs 20,000 crore has been sanctioned and land acquisition is yet to be done by the state government.

Mandaviya also told that Nandigama and Kanchicharla bypasses which were pending since 2007 have also been sanctioned by Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). The Amaravathi-Anadapur Expressway with connectivity to Kadapah and Kurnool in a length of nearly 690 km at a cost of nearly Rs 28,000 crore would be taken up by NHAI. Avenue plantations along the National Highways will be taken up with the partnership of local industrialists, farmers and NGOs.
